Meet Angela

Hi there!  I'm Angela McDonald from Texas!  My love of fitness began when I was 9 years old, when my grandmother gave me a "Get in Shape, Girl!" set for Christmas.  Yes, I know I'm revealing my age with this story...I'm definitely a child of the 80's!

Anyway, through the years I did workouts that came on TV and bought a few videos here and there.  As a teenager I began to be interested in nutrition as well, along with my sister, but never made working out or eating healthy a regular thing.  I pretty much ate what I wanted and worked out every once in a while, and for many years my weight stayed constant.

It was after my first baby was born that I had some extra pounds I wanted to get rid of.  I did lose most of it, but never quite got back down to where I wanted to be.  Then 10 years later, along came another baby, and I found myself the heaviest I'd ever been. Not that I was anywhere near obese, but at only 4'9'', every pound seems to show on me.  So in the fall of 2014, I decided to work hard to lose the weight while my husband was out of state for 5 weeks.  And I did it!!  I lost 7 pounds over that 5 weeks!  I was so proud of myself!

Then Christmas came and I gained back a few pounds, and then I was ready to work harder to lose it again.  So I lifted weights for a month and did well for that month, but I got burned out on going to the gym every day.

Then I discovered Beachbody, and signed up as a coach.  I lost some significant weight, as you can see in the photos below, but I ended up gaining it all back again.

I began to realize that diets only help when a person is disciplined to stick with it, and I wasn't disciplined long-term.  It was less about what "diet" I was on than it was about my thinking.  I knew I had to make a shift in how I thought about food in order to permanently lose the weight and be at optimum health.

So I decided to become a Certified Professional Coach, with a specialization in health and wellness.  I finished my certification in September of 2016, and in February of 2017 I was hired by a weight loss company as a health coach.  I was there for only a short time, and I quickly realized it was not a good fit for me, and that I needed to go out on my own.

That is just what I'm doing now!  I've started my own coaching practice, one that focuses on helping women overcome emotional eating issues, lose weight and change their lives.

If you have any questions about me or about coaching, be sure to get in touch with me and I'll be glad to help you in any way I can!
